Kerwee Feedlot

Kerwee Feedlot is located on Barunggam country near Jondaryn in the Toowoomba region of Queensland. Kerwee Feedlot is owned and operated by Stockyard Beef who refer to this feedlot as a ‘5 Star Hotel’. Cows remain at this feedlot for either 200 or 400+ days. There is a small strip of shade in each pen, but it’s insufficient for all cows to shelter simultaneously. Kerwee Feedlot is just 315 metres from Oakey Creek, and the entire feedlot is mapped as a flood hazard area. On the day we flew over the feedlot, we observed what appeared to be spilled effluent near the holding ponds, extremely muddy-looking pens and a lot of water around the compost piles. Beef from Kerwee Feedlot is sold under brand names Stockyard Gold, Stockyard Wagyu Black and Kiwami by Stockyard.
