Riverina Feedlot

Riverina Feedlot is located on Wiradjuri Country, near Leeton in the Riverina Region of New South Wales. This Feedlot is owned and operated by the world’s largest meat company, JBS, and is their biggest Australian cow feedlot. The property also has a slaughterhouse on site, and concentrates on short, medium and long term feeding programs of Angus and mixed breeds for the European and other world markets. The feedlot is located just 700 meters from main canal – a domestic and agricultural water system. When we visited the feedlot, we saw multiple uncovered carcasses, cow scalps and blood on the compost piles, which were being predated upon by wild birds. We also saw several sick and dead cows in the feedlot pens.
